Evanston May Tighten Gun Range Restrictions
Aldermen to mull whether 250-foot buffer is sufficient.

A law requiring a larger separation between gun ranges and homes, schools and parks in Evanston may be in the works.
Evanston Now reports aldermen voted to hold in committee proposed regulations that would have required a 250-foot separation after finding out a federal court recently upheld a 500-foot rule enacted in a Chicago ordinance.
A 500-foot rule in Evanston would leave no possible location for a gun range. Even under the 250-foot rule, any such business hoping to operate in Evanston must receive a special use approval by the City Council.
