Evanston Mayor Gives Final State of the City Address

In last month in office, Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl delivers annual address.

EVANSTON, IL — Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl gave the 2017 State of the City address Friday.

The event was presented by the Evanston Chamber of Commerce at the Hilton Orrington/Evanston. The luncheon and speech aimed to recognize "the economic growth and vitality of Evanston."

Tisdahl spoke about ongoing police reforms, recounted major new business openings and noted expansions of social services in Evanston during 2016. She expressed uncertainly about the future of federal infrastructure financing and said the city has too much debt.

Tisdahl promised to help whoever is elected mayor next month. She said she has loved every minute of the last eight years serving as mayor.

"I hope I've done you proud," she said.
