Evanston Mayor 'Troubled' by Trump's Executive Order on Immigration
Elizabeth Tisdahl responds to President Donald Trump's executive order targeting sanctuary cities like Evanston.

EVANSTON, IL - Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl issued a statement on Wednesday in reaction to the President Donald Trump's executive order on sanctuary cities.
“I am troubled by the Executive Order issued by the President today regarding Sanctuary Cities," wrote Tisdahl, a third-term mayor who is not seeking re-election this year, on the city's website. "I support the rights of all our residents, including immigrants, to live their lives in our community safely and without fear.
Tisdahl reaffirmed once again that the city will not balk at Trump's threat to cut off federal funding to cities who have passed sanctuary laws. In Evanston, the city's "Welcoming City" ordinance was strengthened shortly after Trump was elected President of the United States in November.
