Carol Hopkins, born Ellen Carol Stutz in Chicago, Illinois on December 24, 1927. Died peacefully at her home in Evanston, Illinois on August 28, 2015. Beloved mother of James Dennis Hopkins, Jr. (Laura), Ellen Hopkins Suarez (Mario), Ann Rice (Dale), Paul Hopkins, Matthew Hopkins (Colleen), Martha Sheridan (Leo), and Elizabeth Heltzer (Michael).Treasured grandmother of Katherine Tierney Lester (Jeff), Rebecca Tierney Koepsel (Chris), Hannah Tierney; Jack, Daniel, James and Claire Sheridan; Henry, Rose, George and Estelle Heltzer. Proud great-grandmother of Bridget and Maeve Lester; Emmett and Blythe Koepsel.
While raising her children she obtained a Master’s Degree in Special Education and taught for twenty three years before retiring as Chair of the O’Shaughnessy Learning Development Program at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois. She was committed to learning and family. We are grateful for her faith and her love, and for making us better people. Special thanks to North Shore University Health System Hospice, Joy Cachola, and Angela Manraqui for their compassion and loving care.
