Evanston Obituary: Marjorie Nichols, 97

Former teacher and owner of Nichols Mimeograph Service dies.

Marjorie Nichols, 97, passed peacefully on February 1 in Woodbridge, Virginia.

She grew up in Parkerville, KS, and after graduating from college, taught elementary school, and married Daryl Nichols. During the War, she worked for the American Red Cross in California.

After the war, she worked in finance at Emporia State Teachers College, and in 1952, moved to Evanston, IL where she owned and operated Nichols Mimeograph Service, a printing business, for 20 years.

In Evanston, she began her lifelong devotion to helping women reach their highest educational aspirations, through P.E.O., a Philanthropic Educational Organization.

In 1978, Marjorie sold her business and moved to Annandale with her husband and later to Westminster in Lake Ridge. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years and son, Leslie, of Warrenton.

She is survived by her son Leland (Deborah) (CA), her sister Joan Kendall Bell (FL), her daughter- in-law Cindy Nichols (VA), five grandchildren (Marcy (Jim) Kalina (CA), Marisa (Josh) Gordon (IN), Colin (Beth) Nichols and Elliot Nichols (CO), Cassandra Coffey (David) (CA) and two great-grandchildren (Jake and Katie Gordon) (IN).

Memorial Services will be held at Westminster and Council Grove, KS at a later date.
