Evanston Obituary: Robert Anthony Risdon, 81

Robert Anthony Risdon, 81, born February 8th, 1933 passed from this life on January 18th, 2015. Bob was a loving husband to Barbara Baxter Risdon (deceased) for 38 years and amazing father for 44 years to his surviving son and US Army Ranger, Lieutenant Colonel Robert A Risdon, Jr. Bob had three wonderful siblings, John HC Risdon (deceased), Carole Olsen (Risdon), and Danielle Risdon. He had two grandchildren, Carson James Risdon (15) and Kiana Hailey Risdon (8). Bob went to the University Of Notre Dame where he was a member of the football team and teammate with Notre Dame Football legend Paul Hornung. Bob spent two years in the United States Army, and served overseas in Korea and Japan in the mid-1950s in the US Army Signal Corps. Bob was a travelling salesman for a majority of his adult life and when not providing for his beloved wife Barbara and son, Bobby, was coaching grade school football for 6th, 7th and 8th graders at St. Athanasius in Evanston, IL. Bob enjoyed many things, but his love was for Notre Dame Football and would always be found rooting for the Irish on Saturday with Barbara and Bobby either in South Bend at Notre Dame Stadium or in the friendly confines of his home. Without a doubt, Bob’s favorite times were spent with his family; he truly loved his wife with every square inch of his heart and was the best father that his son Bobby could ever ask for – a true testament to his remarkable character, love and kindness. He was a devout Catholic and always placed his trust in God and the Holy Spirit. He will be wholeheartedly missed, fondly remembered and respectfully honored by his son and grandchildren.
