Evanston Police Cite 147, Arrest 2 During St. Patrick's Day Enforcement
During the enforcement period, two people were arrested, and 147 were cited for various traffic violations.
EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston Police Department cited 137 people during the recent St. Patrick's Day holiday period.
During the time period, police arrested two people for impaired driving.
“We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason – to save lives,” said Sergeant Amanda Wright.

Additionally, police issued citations for the following:
- 36 speeding citations
- 64 seat belt citations
- 33 distracted driving citations
- 9 no insurance citations
- 2 suspended license citations
- 3 invalid license citations
Evanston police joined forces with other state and local law enforcement agencies that participated in the “It's Not a Game” campaign. The campaigns are funded with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
