Evanston Police Find Stolen Gun, Arrest Chicago Man

The gun was stolen from Evanston last summer, police say.

EVANSTON, IL — After pulling over a car for expired registration at Howard and Western at around 1:00 a.m. Monday morning, Evanston police said they noticed a handgun on the floor of the car.

Police arrested the driver of the car and took possession of the gun, a loaded .45 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun. They checked the serial number and found it had been stolen in a July 2016 Evanston burglary.

Police identified the armed driver as Jacquese Sims, 22, of the 7600 block of North Rogers in Chicago.
