Evanston Police Station Now a Safe Place for Online Transactions

Police Department offers its lobby, parking lot for carrying out deals made online.

The Evanston Police Department is falling in line with the national trend of police stations being used as safe locations for transactions in which sales were arranged online.

The department is offering the use of the front curb parking area and police lobby of the station at 1454 Elmwood Avenue to complete such transactions.

“The front of the police station is well lit and under twenty-four hour video surveillance,” according to a news release issued by the department Thursday. “The front lobby of the police station is staffed by department personnel at all times.”
