Evanston Public Library Introduces Expanded Hours At 2 Branches

The Main Library and the Robert Crown branch will share the same hours and meeting rooms are available to be reserved following guidelines.

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston Public Library branches will now share the same expanded hours beginning Tuesday after the library’s board of trustees approved the measure at a meeting last month.

Hours at both the Main Library, located at 1703 Orrington Ave., and The Robert Crown branch, located at 1801 Main St., are now open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from Noon until 6 p.m. on Sundays. The new hours took affect Tuesday.

Open+ hours, additional self-service hours, at the Robert Crown branch, will be introduced later this fall when the library will be open from 7-9 a.m. Monday-Thursday and from 6-9 a.m. Friday-Sunday, library officials said.

The library also announced that beginning Tuesday, meeting rooms at both branches can again be reserved. Temperature checks and masks will be required and depending on space, those using the room must remain at least six feet apart.

Main Community Room: 48 patrons seated in chairs, a maximum of 39 people seated three per table and a maximum of 13 tables.

Falcon Room: 32 people seated in chairs with a maximum of 30 people seated two per each small table.

Small meeting rooms (various sizes): A maximum of 2-3 people depending upon room size.

Reservations of the Robert Crown Branch Library Multi-Purpose Room have a maximum of 16 people seated at chairs and 12 patrons seated at tables.
