Evanston Ranked as 1 of Worst Baseball Cities in U.S.

WalletHub study that looked at nearly 300 cities could only find four worse than Evanston.

The city of Evanston has been dubbed as one of America’s worst baseball cities.

WalletHub, a personal finance website, ranked the city 268th out of 272 they scored on criteria related to team performance, stadium accessibility and fan engagement.

According to WalletHub, “To rank the cities, we looked at 11 key metrics such as the performance level of each city’s teams, average ticket and minimum season ticket prices, stadium accessibility and more.”

Of the 272 ranked, Evanston was rated 226 when it comes to “Teams and Performance,” and 269 when it comes to “Costs and Fan Engagement.”

Their overall ranking of 268 beat out only Fort Wayne, Ind., Jersey City, N.J., San Jose, Calif. and Providence, R.I.

Chicago, also on the list, came in much higher at No. 45.

Topping the list was St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.
