Evanston Restaurant Gets City's Help Finishing Patio

The Peckish Pig got help from the city to finish its outdoor patio before it got too cool to enjoy it.

The City of Evanston sent its workers to help a new restaurant build an outdoor patio last weekend, Evanston Now reports.

The Peckish Pig opened on Howard Street earlier this year, and has been getting rave reviews on Yelp as one of the city’s newest brew pubs. The restaurant’s owners were attempting to expand the space to include an outdoor area, but ran into trouble trying to find a qualified private contractor, according to Evanston Now.

Evanston City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz told the Evanston Review that he directed city staff to finish work on the project after the Peckish Pig’s owners asked the city for help.

Evanston Alderman Ann Rainey said the Peckish Pig would reimburse the city for the costs associated with the help, which was provided so that the patio could open before the weather got cool, according to the Evanston Review.

“The trucks pulled up, the workers had on city uniforms. Nobody was trying to hide anything,” she said. “If we can get something done so these people can be successful in their patio, let’s do it.”
