Suspect Arrested In Shooting That Hospitalized One Man In Evanston
Evanston police arrested a man in connection to a shooting that injured one man last week.
EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston police arrested an 18-year-old in connection with a shooting that hospitalized one man over the weekend.
At 6:08 p.m. on April 21, police responded to the 700 block of Howard Street after receiving emergency calls reporting gunshots. At the scene, officers found a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in his arm near Main Street and Elmwood Avenue.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital to treat his injury.

Investigators found evidence of gunfire inside a local business and also reviewed video and witness statements. Authorities identified 18-year-old Evanston resident Arthur Mitchell Jr as a suspect in the shooting.
Police arrested Mitchell on Thursday in Evanston. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the case and approved felony counts of reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.

"This remains an active investigation. No further investigative details are being released at this time," police said in a statement.
