Streets Alive! is part of the national “livability cities” movement. In that vision, streets aren't just for traveling—but for lingering, shopping, meeting friends or strolling. In keeping with that focus, visitors are encouraged to walk, bike, scooter, skate or take public transportation to Main Street. The CTA’s Purple Line and Metra both have stops on Main Street at Chicago Avenue.
Streets Alive! is organized by the Evanston Environmental Association, Citizens' Greener Evanston, and the City of Evanston. NorthShore University HealthSystem is the Presenting Sponsor. Other major sponsors include First Bank & Trust together with Byline Bank, ComEd, the Evanston Bicycle Club, Evanston RoundTable, Collective Resource, Natural Awakenings Chicago, and The Mike Nowak Show.
