Evanston Teen Caught With Gun, Pot in Car Outside Home

Police said a loaded Lorcin 9mm handgun was spotted in the 18-year-old's glove compartment.

EVANSTON, IL - An Evanston teenager was found with a loaded handgun and several items of drug paraphernalia after police found him in the driver’s seat of a car parked near his residence.

Jon Vansach, 18, 1132 Dewey Ave. was charged Sunday night with felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony unlawful possession of cannabis, misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor unlawful use of weapon/ammunition and misdemeanor no valid FOID card.

Police were patrolling the area around 11:11 p.m. when they found Vansach in the driver’s seat of a parked car in the 1100 block of Dewey. According to police, they found a clear plastic bagging containing what is thought to be cannabis on Vansach’s lap and upon a more extensive search of the vehicle, located a loaded Lorcin 9mm handgun in the glove compartment as well as miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.
