Evanston To Test Pesticide-Free Parks

Five city parks will have alternative methods used for controlling weeds for one year.

The city of Evanston will launch its first pesticide-free parks pilot program, designating a handful of parks to go pesticide-free for one year.

In partnership with Greenwise Organic Lawn Care, the city will use alternative methods to control weeds at Ackerman, Burnham Shores, Eiden, Perry and Trahan parks - multiple reports say.

Among the plans are to keep lawns taller to “increase root strength and shade out weeds,” MyFoxChicago reports.
