Evanston Woman Accused of Leaving 2 Young Kids Home Alone

Natalia Gorjatschew was hospitalized after she was found locked out of a car in Wilmette. Two kids younger than 5 were found at her home.

EVANSTON, IL - An Evanston woman who was found intoxicated earlier this month in Wilmette left her two children home alone, according to charges filed by the Evanston Police Department.

Police found a 4-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl by themselves when checking the home of 32-year-old Natalia Gorjatschew in the 300 block of Custer Avenue on Nov. 14, an Evanston Review report indicates.

Gorjatschew was taken to Evanston Hospital in the afternoon that day when she was found intoxicated and locked outside a vehicle near Isabella and 14th streets in Wilmette. She told hospital staff she had to leave that night because the two children were left home alone.

The young boy was found with a minor burn to his finger. Police say he sustained the injury while trying to heat up food in a microwave.

Gorjatschew was charged with one misdemeanor count of child endangerment.
