Evanston Woman Hit by UPS Truck
Incident occurred at 5 p.m. Monday at Central St. and Ashland Ave.

A 30-year-old Evanston woman was struck by a UPS delivery truck at 5 p.m. Monday at Central St. and Ashland Ave., the Evanston Police Department said in a released statement just before 8 p.m.
The woman was walking across Ashland when the UPS truck had turned southbound onto Ashland and struck the woman, trapping her under the truck until Evanston Fire Department personnel were able to transport her to Evanston-Northshore University Hospital for treatment.
As of 8:45 p.m., the woman’s condition was critical.

Streets in the area will be closed for at least the next two hours while investigators look into the cause of the accident.
The identity of the woman has not been released.
