Evanston's Fountain Square Art Festival Rebranded As 'Artisan SummerFest'
The 38th edition of the North Shore's oldest juried art fair takes place Saturday and Sunday.

EVANSTON, IL — The North Shore's oldest juried fine arts fair is undergoing a name change this year. What has been known as the Fountain Square Art Festival for the past 37 years has rebranded itself as the "Evanston Chamber Artisan SummerFest" for this year's edition, taking place at Church Street and Sherman Avenue from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

More than 100 artists will still have their work on display at the fair, but organizers are planning even more this year. For the event's 38th edition, the festival has added a new stand-alone "Remix" area. It features the work of 30 artists who create eco-friendly art from found and recycled materials. Many of the artists participated in Remix Chicago, a former art happening in Logan Square. In addition, the Remix area will offer free educational workshops each day for both adults and children.

Beyond the art, there will be craft beer and wine tastings each afternoon between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. With the purchase of a tasting pass, visitors can sample up to 15 specialty microbrews and fine wines.

The fest will also feature strolling street musicians and performers, food and a kids’ area where children and families can have fun in helping to create an urban art installation that will be put on display in Evanston.
The suggested donation for adults of $5 will benefit the Evanston Chamber of Commerce.
