Evanston's Lakefront To Become Global Village For World Arts & Music Festival

The free, two-day celebration of global artistic diversity is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Dawes Park.

EVANSTON, IL — The World Arts and Music Festival will be held July 15-16 at Dawes Park in Evanston, located at Sheridan Road and Church Street. The festival was known as the Evanston Ethnic Arts Festival for 31 years, and offers the opportunity for members of the Evanston community to "travel the world without leaving town," according to an announcement of the event.

Although the event has been re-imagined this year, some of the same elements will return. For instance, the popular Parade of Nations opening ceremony — featuring a procession of flags from more than 200 countries — will kick off the festival at noon on Saturday, July 15.
