Evanston's Lincoln Street Beach Reopens
Construction on Northwestern's new athletic facilities closed the beach for years.

EVANSTON, IL — A Evanston beach closed to the public for several years due to campus construction in the area reopened this week. The Lincoln Street Beach is located on the east end of the Lincoln Street and immediately north of Northwestern University's recently completed Ryan Fieldhouse. City officials announced Monday there will be lifeguards on duty at the beach from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily until Labor Day on Sept. 3.
All visitors need to have beach tokens, with season beach tokens or 10-punch teen beach passes accepted, the city announced. One-day admission can be paid at the beach entrances at a cost of $8 for adults and $6 for children aged 1 to 11.
Parking is free after 4 p.m. on weekdays and all day on the weekend in the north parking garage on Northwestern's campus, 2311 Campus Drive. Weekday parking during business hours costs $8. Dogs are forbidden at Lincoln Street Beach – along with all of Evanston's swimming beaches.
