Screaming Window-Licker Had Drugs, Teens On Bikes Rob 15-Year-Old: Cops
Evanston police arrested two men on felony charges this Labor Day.

EVANSTON, IL — Two men were arrested and charged with felonies in Evanston on Labor Day. One incident involved an 18-year-old who, along with a 16-year-old Evanston boy, was accused of attacking and robbing another teen. In the other, police said they were called to deal with an apparently intoxicated man on Howard Street and found drugs in his possession.
In the first incident, police were called to the area of Brummel Street and Ridge Avenue for a report that two teenage boys were beating up another teen on Sept. 3 at 8:30 p.m. When police arrived, they found a 15-year-old Evanston boy who said he had just been robbed of his iPhone and $25 cash by the two teens.
Police said he explained the pair had approached him farther down the same block on bicyles and began asking him questions, such as if he was a senior in high school. The 15-year-old said, "No," and continued walking, but as he got to the intersection of Ridge and Brummel, the two ran up behind him and tackled him to the ground.

The two robbers kicked and punched him in the head and upper body, according to police. Then his assailants went into his pockets, took his iPhone and the cash before fleeing on foot. When police arrived, the boy declined any medical attention. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news for Evanston — or your community. And iPhone users: Check out Patch's new app.)
Officers and the boy turned on the "Find My iPhone" feature, which soon led them to the area of the 800 block of Brummel, where they found 18-year-old Tristan Malik Nichols-Sanders in a building's basement common area. Police said he matched the description of one of the robbers, and they explained to Nichols-Sanders why they were there and showed him the indication of the phone's location. He turned over the stolen cell phone and was taken into custody, according to police.

While they were on the scene, a 16-year-old Evanston boy matching the description of the other robber walked by. Police said he was positively identified and brought into the station.
The minor was petitioned to juvenile court for robbery, and Nichols-Sanders was arrested Sept. 4 and charged with felony robbery and contributing to the delinquency of a child, a misdemeanor.
In the second incident, police were called to a business the 800 block of Howard Street around 11:49 p.m. on Sept. 4 for a report of a suspicious person.
A man was allegedly screaming and licking the glass window from the outside.

Police said they located Michael T. O'Malley, 26, swaying from side to side on Howard. They said he smelled of alcohol and marijuana, while his eyes were watery and bloodshot. Police searched him and found an unmarked pill bottle with two pills believed to be Xanax.
O'Malley, of the 3400 block of Park Place in Evanston, was arrested in front of the Peckish Pig in the 600 block of Howard and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
