Fingerprint Left on Window Leads to Criminal Trespass Charge
Police say a 32-year-old Evanston man was caught trying to break into a woman's home on Sherman Avenue.

An Evanston man faces a misdemeanor charge of attempted criminal trespass to real property after he was allegedly caught trying to break into a home in the 2000 block of Sherman Avenue through a window early Monday morning.
According to a police report, a 21-year-old woman claims the man - later identified as Steven Manning, 32, of 116 Keeney Street - opened up her first floor bedroom window at 5:36 a.m. and fled when she confronted him.
Manning was stopped by officers shortly after as he was seen leaving the area on a bicycle, and as an evidence technician located a latent fingerprint. It was later determined the print matched Manning.
