Foundation 65 Announces Funding to Support Key Programs for District 65 Students

Foundation 65 receives two significant grants, totaling $180,000 to support arts and literacy programs for all District 65 students.

Foundation 65 announces receipt of two significant grants, totaling $180,000, to support program development and operations over the next three years. The Lewis-Sebring Family Foundation’s gift of $150,000 and Northwestern University’s $30,000 grant will support arts and literacy programs that significantly impact students throughout District 65.

The Lewis-Sebring Family Foundation has been a key and valued supporter of Foundation 65, previously providing generous support for strategic planning, infrastructure growth and programming. It is tied to three families with long connections to Evanston schools: Chuck Lewis and Penny Sebring, Peter and Rachel Lewis, and Casey Lewis Varela and George Varela. Their ongoing support will allow Foundation 65 to grow and invest in programs that align with the District’s curricular goals, meet critical needs in schools and enrich the educational experience of students throughout the District.

Northwestern has been a dedicated community partner and generous donor to Foundation 65 over the past decade. Their ongoing support to Foundation 65 will ensure that literacy and arts programs continue to benefit students at every school in the district.

“It is only with the help of community partners that we are able to truly make a difference for our schools and the educational opportunities that they provide our students,” said Executive Director, Lise Jinno. “We are extremely grateful for the generosity of the Lewis-Sebring family and Northwestern.”

Over the past six years, Foundation 65 has invested in arts and literacy programs with an increasing focus on building the connection between the home and the classroom, the school and the community. During the 2014-2015 school year, Foundation 65 will fund more than $245,000 to support literacy and arts initiatives at District 65 schools.
