Four ETHS Students Receive Ted Van Zelst Award

As the school year comes to a close the Kiwanis Club of Evanston honored four more senior scholar/athletes as Ted Van Zelst Award winners. They included Jesse Bernstein, Jesse Heuer, Chris Brown ad Maia Cella.

All have excelled in athletics and in the classroom; each plans to continue their participation in athletics in their college careers. Jesse Bernstein is ETHS’s first gymnastic qualifier. He will attend U.of I, majoring in Civil Engineering. Jesse Heuer plays second base or shortstop, depending on where he is needed and will attend Rhodes College in Memphis. He plans to play baseball and major in business. Baseball pitcher Chris Brown looks more like a football player, but we are told that his fastball and his hitting skills indicate that baseball is his love. He will attend State Fair C.C. in Missouri.

Unable to attend was Maia Cella, an outstanding Girls Soccer player who will attend the University of Wisconsin and continue her soccer career.

The Kiwanis Club also honors Scholar/Fine Arts Students and Scholar/Community Service students throughout the year.
