YWCA Evanston/North Shore commemorates IWD with event at Evanston Township High School.

EVANSTON, IL — YWCA Evanston/North Shore has announced an event next month it's calling, “Be Bold: Let’s Move the Needle.” Timed to commemorate International Women's Day, the YWCA says the event will include discussions with women entrepreneurs, artists and law enforcement on the economic progress for women and the journey ahead.

“We encourage everyone – men and women, middle-school age to senior citizens – to participate in this event and engage in conversations about women’s economic progress and what each of us can do to support the empowerment of women and families,” said Shannon Callahan, director of women’s leadership and economic advancement at YWCA Evanston/North Shore.

Poets from "Louder Than a Bomb,” are due to perform, and the event's keynote speaker is set to be Evelyn Diaz, president of Heartland Alliance. She has been responsible for directing the Alliance's five nonprofit corporate entities, with 1,400 employees in 12 countries and an operating budget of over $120 million.
