Free Hot Dogs at 'Kits, 'Cats and Kids Block Party

Block party will be held to usher in Northwestern, ETHS football seasons in Evanston.

EVANSTON, IL - One of the city's best fall events has been slated to take place on Thursday, Sept. 15.

The 'Kits, 'Cats and Kids Block Party in downtown Evanston is free and open from 4:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. that night.

A sponsorship by First Bank & Trust means the first 200 hot dogs served at the party will be free. Other food vendors on site include Amanecer Tacos, Babycakes, Beavers Donuts, Chicago Cupcake, Chicago Lunchbox and La Cocinita.

The event is held yearly ahead of a weekend in which both Northwestern University and Evanston Township High School football teams play at home. ETHS plays Barrington at home the night after the block party, and the Wildcats will host Duke Saturday night.

The yearly fall celebration will move one block north this year, being held on Sherman Avenue between Church and Clark streets and on Clark between Sherman and Benson Avenue.

Both Northwestern and ETHS marching bands will perform. Beatles cover band Kaleidoscope Eyes will also entertain.
