FREE WORKSHOP ON FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGIES FOR BUSINESS OWNERS SEPT. 24

Rebecca Berneck, founder of Officeheads, an Evanston-based firm, will present a free workshop on Financial Management and Strategy for business owners, on Thursday, Sept. 24. from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The presentation includes a light continental breakfast, and will be held at Pinstripes, 1150 Willow Rd., in Northbrook. The presentation is sponsored by NorthShore Community Bank, a branch of Wintrust Bank.

Berneck, immediate past president of the Evanston Chamber of Commerce, founded Officeheads in 2008. The company provides financial management services and business consulting to small-staffed companies, tying their numbers to their financial
and strategic goals. The growth of her own business has educated Berneck to look at long range plans and how they can best be achieved, the same technique she suggests with her clients. Her clients average an increase of 91% in revenue during the first year of their relationship with Offceheads.

In her presentation Berneck will define “Financial Management” and why it is important to the small business owner. She finds that most businesses DON’T pay enough attention to financial management, but simply pay their bills, depending on the cash on hand.

Some of the topics Berneck will cover include the best financial team, their roles and responsibilities its importance for small businesses; applications and tools, best practices and an overview of financial tasks to perform…when and why. She also suggests strategies on how to develop a “profit first” mindset and how to achieve that goal.

When not advising clients, Berneck enjoys competition outside of the business world, racing vintage motorcycles. She holds multiple land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
