Gang Activity in Evanston is 'Home Grown': Chief
Police Chief Richard Eddington doesn't blame the city of Chicago for problems in Evanston.

Gang-related issues in Evanston are “home grown,” Police Chief Richard Eddington said during a recent 5th Ward community meeting.
According to Evanston Now, one woman asked the chief during the meeting about what police could do to prevent gang members from Chicago from moving into Evanston.
Eddington responded with an answer that surely would surprise some.

“The preponderance of our gang-related issues are home grown,” he said, adding that authorities in Chicago and Evanston do share a database that provides records of gang activity.
