Gun, Drugs Found With Felon Awaiting Trial On Gun Charges: Police

Cops found a loaded gun and pills at the home of a man previously accused of fleeing police with a loaded gun.

SKOKIE, IL — Evanston and Skokie police executed a search warrant at the home of suspected drug dealer earlier this month and found a loaded gun and 11 pills of synthetic narcotics. A Skokie resident with at least one previous felony conviction, awaiting trial on gun charges, now faces three additional felony drug and gun charges after a visit shortly before 5:30 p.m. on March 15 from an Evanston police special operations unit.

Terrell Wright, 22, of the 3600 block of Main Street in Skokie, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Evanston police found him with a loaded Smith & Wesson model 539 semi-automatic pistol and 11 pills of hydrocodone, according to Cmdr. Ryan Glew.

Wright is being held at Cook County Jail without bond in connection with his 2017 indictment on four counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon resulting from a December 2016 arrest in Evanston, according to court records.

Prosecutors filed paperwork to revoke his bond the day after his most recent arrest, and a judge said bail at $100,000 in connection with the latest case.

Police previous said Wright fled with a gun from officers conducting a traffic stop in the early morning hours of Dec. 13, 2016 on a car for not using its turn signal. He first began to walk away clutching his waistband, then began to run and cops noticed the gun in his pants.

Wright fell in the snow in the 900 block of Pitner Avenue and attempted to throw the gun before being arrested, according to police.

Cops found a loaded Glock .40 caliber handgun and charged him over it, as well as a small amount of marijuana they found while taking him into custody.

Wright is due back in court in Skokie Friday on the latest charges, and April 30 on the previous ones.
