Hairdresser Battered His Ex Over Being Late: Cops

A 25-year-old Evanston man was arrested for two counts of domestic battery and one count of child endangerment, police said.

EVANSTON, IL — An Evanston man has been charged with domestic battery and child endangerment in connection with an incident that occurred last month, police said. On May 7, when his ex-partner was late dropping off their 5-year-old child, he allegedly became enraged and attacked his ex.

Senan Parganlija, 25, of the 800 block of Seward Street, grabbed his child's parent by the mouth and pulled her to the ground, yelling and pulling his ex-partner's hair, according to police reports. He also threw a backpack at his former partner which missed and hit the 5-year-old child, Evanston police said.

His ex-partner notified police around 9:15 p.m. that night, reported minor pain and bleeding in the mouth and refused medical attention, according to Evanston Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan. The case was assigned to domestic violence detectives, who conducted an investigation over the course of the next three and a half weeks, Dugan said.

Parganlija was arrested June 1 at 1:30 p.m. when detectives went to the Skokie courthouse where he had been scheduled to appear, according to Dugan. They took him into custody, brought him back to the station, and charged him with two counts of domestic battery and one count of child endangerment.

Parganlija works as a hairstylist in Wilmette, he confirmed. He declined any further comment and threatened a reporter with legal action.

His sister Amina told Patch she witnessed the incident. She said the child was with her the whole time and that she has a video of it. She said she pushed Senan's ex off of him. In fact, he was "mad [the child's parent] didn't come pick up [the child] four days before," she said.
