Handgun Found on Man Evading Arrest: Cops

Police deployed a taser on the Rockford man before he tried hiding a 9mm handgun Friday night.

EVANSTON, IL - A brief foot chase on Dodge Avenue Friday night led to the recovery of a 9 mm handgun in Evanston.

Police stopped a car in the 700 block for a minor traffic violation at 11:17 p.m., when the passenger in the vehicle fled on foot.

Police deployed a taser on the man, lated identified as Douglas Price, 47, of Rockford. Cops say Price then tried to discard a Kel-Tac 9mm handgun under a parked vehicle.

Price was taken to the Evanston Police Department and charged with unlawful use of a weapon by felon, no valid FOID card and disobedience to police.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with one count of improper use of registration.
