Hard Cider Brewery Planned for Howard Street
The North Shore Cider Company could brew cider in Evanston as early as the fall.
EVANSTON, IL - A hard cider brewery recently won a special use zoning approval from the Evanston City Council and plans to open on Howard Street as early as this fall.
The North Shore Cider Company wants to open the cidery at 707 Howard Street, according to the Evanston Review.
Owner Chris Collins told City Council members at a recent meeting he plans to manufacture the hard cider at the Evanston location with apples and pear juice brought in from a farm in Michigan. Because the process of making cider doesn’t go through a heating stage, there won’t be a harsh odor in the air similar to what’s noticed at a typical beer brewery.
