Harley Clarke Mansion to Re-Open for Recreational Programs
Ald. Don Wilson's plan approved by Evanston City Council Monday night.

EVANSTON, IL - The Harley Clarke mansion in Evanston will re-open under the control of the city.
The City Council approved a plan from 4th Ward Ald. Don Wilson on Monday to re-open the mansion for recreation programs, according to Evanston Now.
Aldermen approved the measure after Wilson dropped some of the components from a similar plan he had a year ago.

The spending cap for renovations on the historic property was reduced from $500,000 to $250,000, and Wilson’s original plan to rehab two apartments in the mansion’s coach house to be used for affordable housing was also dropped.

The current plan is for recreation programs to be held there beginning next summer, moving some programs there from the fog houses on the lighthouse property.
