Highland Park Man's Expired Plates Lead To Drug Charges

The 19-year-old was arrested for driving without a license, leading to the discovery of drugs and needles, police said.

EVANSTON, IL — A Highland Park teen faces multiple drug charges after he was arrested in the parking lot of an Evanston gas station last week. Shortly after 8 p.m. on Sept. 13, Evanston patrol officers noticed expired license plates on a vehicle in the parking lot of the Shell station at Ridge Avenue and Howard Street. Police approached the driver and found he did not have a valid license, according to Cmdr. Joseph Dugan.

Jake D. Boedicker, 19, of the 1000 block of Andean Place in Highland Park, was taken into custody, and police searched his car. The search revealed a cigarette box with 16 pills of Xanax inside, a bent spoon that showed signs of being burnt and hypodermic needles, according to police.

In addition to the charges of driving with expired plates and without a valid license, Boedicker was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic syringe.
