The Home Depot Pays Evanston Back for Yard Waste Stickers

Dispute settled after home goods store admits internal error.

Earlier this week, the city of Evanston issued a news release stating the stickers would no longer be available at the store and that the city would no longer purchase any items there.

Dave Stoneback, the city’s public works agency director, said the city had been attempting to recover the owed money for more than a year and that they only heard back after the news release was sent.

A spokesperson for Home Depot called the matter an “honest mixup” that was cleared with the city the same day it was brought to the company’s attention.

"We value our relationship with Evanston, and we're truly sorry for the confusion on our part.”

From now on, The Home Depot will have to pay the city in advance for yard waste stickers and any other items.
