Improv Nerd interviews WTTW host Geoffrey Baer

Final podcast of 2015 features Emmy Award winning producer

EVANSTON, IL –– Improv Nerd concludes its fourth anniversary on Dec. 6 with WTTW host Geoffrey Baer. The hit comedy podcast hosted by Jimmy Carrane will be held on Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Tickets are $10 adults and $8 for students.


Baer, of Evanston, is an Emmy Award winning producer for WTTW who is known for his TV specials such as “Biking the Boulevards,” “Chicago By Boat: The New River Tour,” and “The Foods of Chicago: A Delicious History,” to name a few.

While Baer is best known for television, he also has a theater background. He earned a master’s degree in theatre from Northwestern University, studied improv at Second City and even taught and improvised for The Players Workshop of The Second City.

In Jimmy’s interview with Baer, which will be recorded as a podcast, they’ll discuss Baer’s career and how comedy has played a role. Then laugh along as Jimmy performs a totally unscripted scene with Baer and learn how they created the scene in a revealing interview and question-and-answer session.

Since the live show and podcast began in September 2011, Jimmy has released more than 160 episodes with interviews of such guests as Key & Peele, Bob Odenkirk, Broad City, Jeff Garlin, Andy Richter, David Koechner, Rachel Dratch, Tim Meadows, Scott Adsit and others. The show is hosted on FeralAudio.com, a Los Angeles-based podcast collective that features shows by comedians such as Matt Dwyer, Chelsea Peretti, Dan Harmon and more.

About Jimmy Carrane
Raised on the North Shore in Kenilworth, IL, Jimmy Carrane learned at a young age that fat kids in big families are required to be funny.

After studying at Second City in his late teens, he went on to perform with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Mike Myers, David Koechner, Tim Meadows, Andy Richter and more. An original member of The Annoyance Theater and Armando at The IO-Chicago, Jimmy wrote and starred in several acclaimed one-man shows including “I’m 27, I Still Live at Home and Sell Office Supplies” and “Living in a Dwarf’s House,” and also performed in groundbreaking shows such as “Godshow” and “Naked” with MadTV’s Stephanie Weir.

Today, Jimmy lives in Evanston, IL, and is a renowned and respected improv teacher, having taught at The Second City, IO-Chicago, The Annoyance, Victory Gardens and other locations for more than 25 years. He is the co-author of “Improvising Better: A Guide to the Working Improviser” and author of “Improv Therapy.”

Jimmy’s voice was well-known to Chicagoans during the seven years he contributed to and hosted Studio 312 on Chicago Public Radio. His film and TV credits include “The Playboy Club,” “Public Enemies” with Johnny Depp, “ER,” “Natural Born Killers,” “Early Edition,” “The Untouchables,” “Stash” and “Tapioca.”
