Improvements Coming to Baker Park

Construction on project to bring new play areas and basketball court to park begins Monday.

The City of Evanston will be contracting park improvements at Baker Park over a 12-week period. Construction will begin the week of August 17, with the entire project expected to be fully completed by mid-November 2015. During construction, the park will be closed to the public and the construction area will be fenced.

Baker Park is located at Forest Avenue at Keeney Street. The improvements include new play areas, pavement, a basketball court, a baseball backstop, fencing, retaining walls, landscaping, and security lighting. The project is funded through City General Obligation Bond Funds.

Work within the right-of-way will be noted with temporary NO PARKING signs posted 48 hours prior to the start of work. The construction activities will create some inconvenience for abutting residents, but we will attempt to minimize any inconvenience. Construction zone daytime NO PARKING restrictions will be intermittent throughout the duration of the project; evening and night time parking (5 p.m. to 7 a.m.) should be available.
