Jewish Film Fest Begins March 10

Popular Jewish-inspired films will be shown at theaters in the city and suburbs for 11 days.

The Chicago Jewish Film Festival, now in its third year, will kickoff on March 10 and feature a number of popular works at theaters in the city and suburbs this year.

A total of 18 Jewish-inspired films from wide-ranging perspectives will take place over ten days at eight venues, according to a news release from JCC Chicago, which stated “the culturally diverse selection of films will illuminate, delight, educate and entertain audiences of all ages.”

Among the most talked about films at this year’s festival are: Very Semi-Serious, a look at the art and genius of The New Yorker cartoons; Dough, starring celebrated actor Jonathan Pryce (from Game of Thrones and Pirates of Caribbean) as a down-on-his-luck widow desperate to save his East End London bakery; Every Face Has a Name, which captures the first free steps of Holocaust survivors docking in Malmo, Sweden; It Happened in Saint Tropez, a smash hit romantic comedy; Felix and Meira, a cross-cultural love story about a woman who questions her faith; and, That Bites, created by a 12-year-old local filmmaker about the fears and frustrations of food allergies.
