Judge Jerry Esrig Receives Endorsements from Mayors in the 9th Subcircuit

Judge Jerry Esrig received endorsements from four key mayors in the 9th Subciruit in support of his run for judge.

In the race for Judge in Cook County’s 9th Subcircuit, Judge Jerry Esrig has received endorsements from four key mayors in the 9th Subcircuit, including: Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen, Morton Grove Mayor Dan Dimaria, and Lincolnwood Village President Jerry Turry.

“Judge Jerry Esrig is the complete package. He has all of the qualities we want in a great judge –
intelligence, temperament, and judicial experience,” stated Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen. “Judge Esrig will do us proud. I’m pleased to endorse someone of his high caliber.”

The mayors join an impressive list of state and local officials who have spoken out in support of the Evanston resident, including: Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky; Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin; the entire Democratic Committee of the 9th Subcircuit; Illinois State Senators Daniel Biss, Ira Silverstein, and Laura Murphy; and Illinois State Representatives Robyn Gabel, Lou Lang, Laura Fine, and Kelly Cassidy.

Judge Jerry Esrig was appointed as a Circuit Court Judge by the Illinois Supreme Court on October 4, 2013 and was reappointed to a term which began on January 30, 2015. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Esrig worked as a trial lawyer in Chicago for over 30 years,
representing small and medium-sized businesses in commercial disputes and profoundly injured individuals. In 1984, he co-founded the firm of Zaideman & Esrig, P.C. which became Epstein, Zaideman & Esrig in 1985. The firm once again became known as Zaideman & Esrig, P.C. in 1999 when partner Jim Epstein was appointed and then elected to the bench.

Judge Esrig earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Northwestern University and a law degree from the University of Chicago School of Law. He was an adjunct faculty member at Northwestern University Law School and also taught for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. Judge Esrig and his wife Deborah Thorne live in Evanston where they raised their two adult children, Daniel and Rachel.
