Kirk Endorsed by Township Republicans
The incumbent U.S. Senator is backed by four local Republican groups, who announced the endorsement over the weekend.

WINNETKA, IL - Incumbent Illinois U.S. Senator Mark Kirk has the backing of many statewide Republican leaders and over the weekend added a number of Township Republican groups on the North Shore to his list of endorsements for re-election.
Precinct captains and members of the Evanston Township Republicans, Maine Township Republicans, New Trier Township Republicans and Northfield Township Republicans all voted overwhelmingly to endorse Kirk, according to Politico. Kirk faces James Marter, an Oswego businessman, in the 2016 Republican Primary.
Kirk, the former Illinois U.S. House of Representatives 10th District Congressman and a New Trier grad, already had the support of Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner, former Governor Jim Edgar and congressmen Rodney Davis, John Shimkus, Peter Roskam and Bob Dold among others.
Democrats seeking Kirk’s seat in 2016 are Tammy Duckworth, Napoleon Harris and Andrea Zopp.
