Knife-Throwing Drunk Woman Smashed Car, Drove On Sidewalk: Cops

She showed up at the Domino's looking for her boyfriend, threatened one of the employees and smashed one of their cars.

EVANSTON, IL — An Evanston woman was charged with assault and drunk driving following a series of incidents early Saturday morning in and around a Domino's Pizza. According to police, a woman walked into the shop around 3:38 a.m. looking for her boyfriend, an employee, but he wasn't there.

Tamara Singleton, 41, of the 1500 block of Florence Avenue, then allegedly pulled out a small knife and threatened the three employees inside the 911 Foster Ave. location.

Police said she swung the knife toward the one woman who was working at the time and threw it at her. It missed and the worker was unhurt.

Singleton left the Domino's, got into her car, and drove around to the back of the store where an employee's car was parked, colliding with it before leaving the scene, according to police.

Police were called and arrived on the scene. As they were investigating the incident, Singleton returned, "driving up on the sidewalk," police said.

She got out of the car and spoke to cops, who reportedly noticed she smelled like alcohol and seemed like she'd been drinking.

Officers conducted field sobriety tests and issued her citations for a number of offenses, including illegal transportation of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, no proof of insurance and driving on sidewalk, according to police.

Singleton was also charged with aggravated assault, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. She is due in court on Jan. 25.
