'Lament And Hope' At Evanston Community Vigil
Evanston faith groups have organized a Thursday service in response to events in Charlottesville.

EVANSTON, IL — Religious and community groups in Evanston have invited the public to an interfaith vigil in response to last weekend's displays of violence and hate in Charlottesville, Virginia. Sponsored by a coalition of local groups, the Thursday evening event has been dubbed a Community Service of Lament and Hope.
"We believe the best response to hatred is to show love, the best way to defeat separatism is to display unity, the best way to overcome ignorance is by teaching that all women and men are inescapably interwoven in a tapestry called life," Rev. Michael Nabors, of Second Baptist, told Patch. "We are family and we stand together."
Thursday's event is open to the all members of the public of all faith backgrounds. It will be held at 7 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, 1717 Benson Ave. in Evanston.
