Life Out There performs at the Adler Planetarium

If you've ever wondered what world-renowned scientists do in their spare time, "Life Out There" answers that question today and tomorrow.

If you’ve ever wondered what world-renowned scientists do in their spare time, “Life Out There” answers that question today and tomorrow at the Adler Planetarium.

Life Out There is performed by the Adler’s House Band of the Universe. (And, how fun is it that the Adler has a house band?) Featuring astrobiologist Dr. David H. Grinspoon and astrophysicist Dr. Ka Chun Yu,  Life Out there performs African-inspired jazz music tonight and tomorrow night in the Adler’s Granger Sky Theater. The show will be accompanied by scientific visuals never-before-seen in the 70-foot dome theater.

The Adler’s Grainger Sky Theater is an amazing place to see a sky show, so a sky show with a  concert is sure to be a great event. The Adler describes the events by saying that ”Life Out There will combine the leading-edge technology of the Grangier Sky Theater, stunning visual effects based upon real astronomical data and the critically acclaimed musical interpretations of The House band of the Universe. Audiences will be fully surrounded in images that explore the origins and mysteries of the Universe with music specifically composed and performed to match the visual experience. Original music composed for Life Out There expands upon musical melodies and rhythms from around the world including the rhythms and harmonies of Africa and Jamaica, as well as lusciously layered bass lines and brass harmonies in American American jazz and funk.”
