With contributions from the offense, defense and special teams, Evanston’s football team checked all of the boxes in Week 1.

The Wildkits didn’t check any of those boxes in Week 2.

Lincoln-Way Central overpowered the Wildkits 41-0 at Lazier Field Friday night in a running clock victory that evened Evanston’s record at 1-1 on the season.

The south suburban squad --- with the school nickname of Knights --- turned the matchup into a Knight-mare for the hosts, blocking two punts and piling up 240 yards rushing in the rout. Evanston only mustered 1 first down in the first half and trailed 34-0 at the intermission.

Running back Anthony Noto had scoring runs of 20, 46 and 5 yards for the winners and Andrew Schiller booted a pair of field goals from 23 and 47 yards. Nick Udovich also returned a blocked punt 8 yards for a score for Lincoln-Way, now 2-0.

For Evanston, junior Ryan Wambo rushed 10 times for 42 yards --- the Kits totaled just 50 yards on the ground --- and quarterback Colin Livatino completed 7-of-12 passes for 32 yards. Jacques Phillippe (interception) and Clay Lemmon (fumble recovery) accounted for Lincoln-Way’s two turnovers, both coming in the second half.

“We’ve got a lot of things we have to fix,” admitted ETHS head coach Mike Burzawa. “That first blocked punt set up a field goal and then we got down 10-0. You’ve got to be able to bounce back from adversity, and obviously we weren’t up to that challenge. Lincoln-Way Central is a strong and physical team and we didn’t execute tonight. It was a frustrating night for us.”

Evanston hosts Palatine Fremd next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
