Live Music, Dance And More At 'Jalisco En Evanston'

6th annual event set to take place at ETHS ahead of Hispanic Heritage Month.

EVANSTON, IL - From the City of Evanston: Celebrate a prelude to Hispanic Heritage Month at the 6th annual "Jalisco en Evanston" event on Thursday, August 31, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This year's event will be held in a new location, Evanston Township High School, in the main auditorium, 1600 Dodge Ave., in Evanston.

The free event, presented by the Federation of Hometown Associations from the State of Jalisco, Mexico (also known as “FEDEJAL”), is open to the public and will feature live mariachi music from Mariachi Juvenil Colotlán, folkloric dance performances by Ballet Folclórico Guadalajara, and artisans from Jalisco. Entertainment will begin at 6:30 p.m. Food will be available for purchase.

Jalisco en Evanston is part of FEDEJAL's weeklong tour of the Chicago area. Each year, during the months of August and September, FEDEJAL celebrates “Semana Jalisco” (Jalisco Week), where it tours several Illinois cities to celebrate its culture and traditions.
