Maday Brothers Founder Dies

The following obituary is courtesy of Donnellan Family Funeral Services.

Lloyd Francis Maday, age 84, died February 25, 2015 at home surrounded by his family and loved ones. The father of 8 children and longtime Evanston business owner succumbed to his 2 ½ year battle with cardiac amyloidosis.

Born January 24, 1931, he lived the majority of his life in his favorite city in the world, Evanston. He was an entrepreneur at the young age of 19, opening Maday Brothers, an auto mechanic shop at the corner of Central Street and Broadway. Together with his brothers, Lloyd grew the shop into an enduring local business that takes care of its customers to this day.

But his true passion and love for life, was his family. He was a generous patriarch that lead by example and shined his light brightest with his wife and children and 29 grandchildren.

Survivors include his bride of 54 years, Kathleen (McRaith) Maday. Children and their spouses Maureen and Mike Frazell, Tom and Gerry Maday, Liz Brieva, Katie and Jeff Mohajir, Terry and Eileen Maday, Peggy and Peter Martin, Billy and Adele Maday. Grandchildren Peter, Patrick and Joseph Frazell. Leo and Sophie Maday. Jena, Claire, Gabriel, Nathan, Tess, Leah and Cecilia Brieva. Max, Nicholas, Andrew, Samuel, Kathleen, Alexander and Christopher Mohajir. Michaela, Kelly, Johnny and Terrence Maday. Ellie, Greta, Jesse and Brendan Martin. Brian and Abby Maday. Predeceased by his son John Stephen Maday, parents Steven and Bertha Maday, brothers and their spouses Bob and Jean Maday, Steve Maday, Larry Maday, Ralph and Lucy Maday, Jerry Maday.
A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 2, at St. Athanasius Church. 1615 Lincoln Street, Evanston, IL followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
