Maple Avenue Pot Dispensary Could Open Next Month

Pharmacannis, nearing completion, awaits state inspection.

Evanston’s first medical marijuana dispensary could open as soon as next month.

A state inspection for Pharmacannis, 1804 Maple Ave. is scheduled for mid-October and construction on the location is nearly complete, according to the Daily Northwestern.

“Assuming that inspection by the state is complete, we will be authorized to go from that date,” Pharmacannis CEO Teddy Scott said.

The city of Evanston - which owns the building where Pharmacannis will operate - will generate tax revenue by taxing the dispensary’s purchases from a cultivation center. Early estimates indicate the city will generate $117,656 in taxes, which would mean at most 25 patients accessing the dispensary per day.
