More Evanston City Workers Come From Chicago Than Evanston

The city of Evanston has more full-time employees from Chicago than Evanston.

According to city data from March of this year, 187 city of Evanston government employees are from Chicago (more than 25 percent), while 154 live in the city in which they work. The only other municipality where more than 20 Evanston city workers call home is Skokie, which has 48.

More city workers are in the 30-39 age bracket than any other, with 215, and whites account for nearly 65 percent of the work force. African-Americans are next in terms of races with 23 percent.

The number of males employed by the city is much more than the number of females, 530 to 209.
