ETHS Athletic Director Chris Livatino noted during a recent District 202 board meeting that since a number of student-athletes take part in more than one sport, the number of total athletes is 1,254.
The most popular sports for girls last year were cross country track (115) and swimming (86), and nearly all boys took part in either football (143), soccer (103), cross country (41) and golf (33).
